Your rights and responsibilities

As an apprentice or trainee in Victoria, under supervision you will:

  • have the opportunity to learn all the skills related to your qualification
  • receive training from a suitably qualified person
  • have the chance to learn how to use the tools and equipment of your trade or occupation
  • get hands-on experience in various tasks for all competencies in your training plan.

As an apprentice or trainee, it is your responsibility to:

  • attend work and act in a professional and courteous manner
  • respect the rights of others at work
  • take care of your employer's property and resources,
  • treat employer information as confidential
  • make all reasonable efforts to achieve the competencies in your training plan
  • complete all the required assessments
  • attend training sessions or supervised workplace activities
  • take advantage of learning opportunities
  • maintain your training record book.
