Each year we undertake client and stakeholder research. This helps us understand how we can improve our engagement and regulatory services.

Recently, we met with Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) to talk about our 2024 client and stakeholder research findings. We discussed an action plan to respond to your feedback.

We acknowledge the increasing complexity and compliance burden for schools.

We have an opportunity to improve our engagement and guidance to help schools comply. We want all students to get a quality education, in safe and well-governed environments.

As part of our action plan, the 2025 cyclical review program includes:

  • online and in-person information sessions held in partnership with ISV
  • site visits for every school under review, providing the opportunity to better understand your school and students, and to discuss how you implement policies and procedures
  • improving response times to school queries and rectification submissions
  • meeting with every school with a rectification plan, to provide targeted guidance and support to comply.

We’re also reviewing our Guidelines to the minimum standards and requirements for school registration. Some schools have already provided feedback on how the guidelines can be improved. The new guidelines will clarify what compliance looks like and the evidence required to demonstrate compliance.

In the coming months, we'll consult further on the new guidelines.
