On 24 March 2025, we strengthened our relationship with the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO).
We made an agreement called an Exchange of Letters. This will enhance our regulatory efforts through improved cooperation and information sharing.
The FWO supports apprentices and trainees by providing information, ensuring fair treatment, and enforcing workplace laws. This complements our role in ensuring the requirements of training contracts are met. By sharing information, we can better protect apprentices and trainees from harm.
We will also inform each other about investigations. This way, both organisations will know about compliance issues related to our areas of responsibility.
We plan to build our relationship through regular meetings and shared activities. This collaboration will help us improve the regulation of Victoria’s training system.
The Apprenticeships and traineeships compliance and enforcement framework explains how we seek to eliminate or minimise harm, and the risk of harm, to apprentices and trainees.
The FWO also has information to support apprentices and trainees.
