Our authorised officers are making unannounced visits to workplaces all over Victoria.

These visits are part of our campaign targeting new employers of apprentices and trainees. The campaign started in October and will continue into 2026.

In 2025–26, new employers are a priority for VRQA’s regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships. Our previous campaign showed most issues can be resolved with early intervention.

All employers need to understand and meet their obligations. New employers who are compliant from day one, set up their apprentices and trainees to be safe and supported at work.

Our authorised officers will visit new employers to ensure they understand their obligations. They’ll also check their compliance.

This checklist can be used by employers to make sure they:

· understand training requirements

· have agreed to and signed a training plan

· provide adequate supervision

· have the appropriate equipment

· give apprentices or trainees tasks at the right skill level.

We will provide further updates on the campaign to share our findings.

You can read about our 2025-26 enforcement and compliance priorities and how we regulate in our Apprenticeships and traineeships compliance and enforcement framework.
