The Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) has released new resources for Child Safe Standard 1. Standard 1 requires organisations to establish culturally safe environments for Aboriginal children and young people. It ensures they feel safe and supported, and organisations have no tolerance for racism.
The new resources from CCYP will help you understand what cultural safety means and support the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people.
New CCYP resources for Child Safe Standard 1:
- Understanding cultural safety for Aboriginal children and young people
- Tips for establishing a culturally safe organisation
- Frequently asked questions with Meena Singh, Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People
- Days of importance for Aboriginal communities.
In addition, the Child Safe Standard 1 guide has practical tools, tips and templates to help you meet your obligations.
The Child Safe Standards help protect children and young people from harm and abuse.
The VRQA’s Child Safe Standards for education providers website has guidance to help you comply with all of the standards.
