The VRQA works with the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) to help apprentices, trainees and employers understand their rights and responsibilities at work.

A recent media release outlines how FWO helped apprentices and trainees get more than $750,000 back in their pockets, including:

  • $415,943 through investigations
  • $342,119 through dispute resolutions.

We supported the FWO’s actions, including by revoking a builder’s approval to employ apprentices. As coregulators, we share information and coordinate activities to protect apprentices and trainees from harm.

We also coordinate efforts to support apprentices and trainees.

For free advice and assistance about rights and obligations in the workplace employers, apprentices and trainees can:

  • talk to the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94
  • visit online at contact us

Apprentices in the building and construction industry can also access dedicate resources including a free webinar on workplace rights.

Any apprentices can send in an anonymous tip-off for workplace issues including sexual harassment.

Victorian apprentices or trainees with concerns about their training contract or employer can also contact the VRQA, and can choose to remain anonymous:
