From 1 September 2025, Victorian electrical apprentices and supervisors will operate under the new Requirements for Effective Supervision of Apprentice Electricians.
Energy Safe Victoria’s Requirements for Effective Supervision of Apprentice Electricians is a legal document which set outs the responsibilities of employers and supervisors. The new requirements include changes to supervision ratios for specific types of work, to ensure that apprentices can undertake electrical installation work safely.

Employers must provide a physical or digital copy of the requirements to their employees who supervise apprentices. The new requirements can be found on Energy Safe Victoria’s Effective Supervision web page(opens in a new window).
