Consultation extended to 5 June

We are giving schools more time to give us feedback on the updated guidelines.

We are extending the consultation period for the updated guidelines to the minimum standards until 5:00 pm, Friday 5 June 2026.

Many schools contacted us asking for more time, so we have extended the consultation. Your feedback is vital in helping us shape the updated guidelines. We want to ensure that our regulatory approach and support for schools meet your needs.

The updated guidelines do not change the minimum standards or add additional requirements for schools.

The updated guidelines:

  • are organised into 6 sections, with each section focusing on a specific area of compliance
  • provide more guidance about what compliance looks like
  • explain evidence requirements in plain language
  • evidence requirements are set out in structured tables
  • make clear when requirements apply only to new school applications
  • visual markers indicate what applies to new schools, reviews and government schools.

Consultation now open until Friday 5 June 2026.
